Mobile Edge Replaces a Remote Starter and Fixes a Bad Install

Last week we did a very interesting job in a 2008 F450.    The customer had a Viper Remote Starter / Alarm combo installed at another shop.  He was very unhappy with the unit and the installation.  He bought a Compustar unit from us and had do a completely  re-wire.

This is what we found under the dash.
Door Lock Wires Run Through Door Jam
Unbelievable!

What we found was very eye-opening.  The previous install was BAD.  Wires were run through the door jam and T-taps and crimp connectors were used throughout the job. It wasn’t loomed properly and the appearance of the wiring under the dash was just plain messy.

What was even more interesting was the number of modules needed to get the job done.  The Viper system had an alarm unit, a starter unit, a module for the transponder bypass and a separate relay pack for the door locks.  We were able to consolidate this whole mess into one brain and one outboard relay.  The end result was a very clean installation and a remote starter and alarm that works well.

In addition, we installed a backup sensor system to this monster of a truck.
