Earlier this Summer Mobile Edge was invited to the Audison Full DA training at the Mobile Solutions facility in Phoenix, AZ. With great excitement, I attended the training in mid August. What I learned will forever change high-end car audio.
Full DA, which stands for Full Digital Audio is a groundbreaking technology for car audio. With Full DA, the audio signal is kept in the digital domain up to the output section of the amplifier. This is done with a combination of 1 of Audison’s Bit processors (Bit One or Bit Ten D), and Voce or Thesis amplifiers. Voce amplifiers require the addition of an input module called the Bit In. With Full DA, a digital signal is fed into the Bit processor, either from a high-end head unit or another aftermarket solution for iPod, Android or HD storage. After the Bit processor does its magic (and it truly is magical!) the signal is fed to the amplifiers by way of a Cat5E cable. RCA’s are not used in the signal transfer. This dramatically drops the noise floor and virtually eliminates low-level noise like hiss or hum. The result is ultra high quality sound that couldn’t have been produced in a car before Full DA.
Before I left Phoenix, I ordered the parts that I needed to transform our existing display into a Full DA setup. I am happy to report that, as of yesterday, the Full DA setup is now 100% functional on our display here in Lehighton, PA. In order to maximize your ability to audition the system, we added a Logitech Squeezebox and Apple TV streaming device to the display. With these additions, you can listen to any of thousands of songs that we have at our disposal.
In addition, attendees were introduced to and trained on the new Bit Tune product. Bit Tune is an amazing device that gives an installer every tool needed to properly set up a new or existing system that has a Bit processor in it. The Bit Tune takes a lot of the subjectivity out of tuning a system. When this product is release in October, Mobile Edge will be one of the first to get their hands on it!
To top off the trip, we were treated to several hours of hands on fabrication training by one of the best in the industry: Bryan Schmidt from Mobile Solutions. These few hours of custom fab training inspired me to step up our game at Mobile Edge. As mentioned in a previous post, within a few weeks, Mobile Edge will have a completely remodeled install bay complete with full-blown wood and fabrication facilities. Stay tuned!
