Clients keep coming back to Mobile Edge in Lehighton, Pennsylvania because we don’t just sell products; we sell solutions. Vehicle safety, convenience, and entertainment systems have been our business for over 20 years. We’ve had several clients recently mention that they miss the big audio systems they had in their teens and early 20s, but just can’t afford to give up space now that they have families. The Mobile Edge team can easily give you more bass in your system that you want, without taking up much, if any, space at all.
Why You Need Bass
The bottom two octaves of what we hear (20–40 Hz and 40–80 Hz) are critically important to the realism and impact of your music. Instruments like a piano, five-string bass, kick drum and even a tuba have music content that extends below 80Hz. Barry White could sing as low as a low C, which is just over 65 Hz. Factory audio systems often have a very hard time playing music below 60–80 Hz with any significant output; even when they do, the detail and clarity is often lacking. Bass isn’t just fun; it’s important to hearing all of your music.
Add It Up
When we add a subwoofer to a factory audio system, it serves two purposes. It allows you to easily hear the bottom few octaves of your music with detail, clarity, and impact, and it also relieves your small speakers of the task of trying to produce bass. This lets them do a much better job on midrange and high frequencies. They will play louder and more clearly, and the risk of being damaged is substantially reduced.
Small Space, More Bass
In the past few years, car audio manufacturers like Hertz and Memphis have developed thinner subwoofers that have very shallow mounting depths. Most of these subwoofers are less than 4 inches deep. We can install a 10- or 12-inch sub in locations where a subwoofer would never have fit before. The size of the enclosure these subwoofers require is also very compact. We can get deep bass from a truly small space.
No Space? We Can Still Give You More Bass!
Where and how we install a subwoofer in your vehicle depends on the car or truck itself. Adding bass no longer means giving up space. For trucks, we can create a compact enclosure for a 10-inch sub or two under the rear bench seat or against the back wall. In cars, we can mold a fiberglass enclosure into the corner of a trunk or hatch. We could even use the space inside a spare tire. Check out the amazing installation we did in this Honda Accord as an example.
Powering It Up
Just as subwoofers have become flexible in their application, so too have amplifiers. Hertz, Audison, and Memphis Car Audio have created great-sounding, high-efficiency subwoofer amplifiers that are easy for us to hide under seats, in storage compartments or even in your dash. Memphis has a 300-watt amp that has a footprint of only 4 by 9 inches, and Hertz has a 700-watt amplifier that is 7.5 by 8.5 inches. That’s some serious power from a small package.
